For the past few months I have been travelling to Toronto every second Tuesday to take part a seminar given by Landmark Education. This picture I took as I left home to attend the last session of the seminar. I took the picture at 12:11 and the GPS shows me arriving around 4:20. There was usually another 30 minutes of rest stops and other delays. That means each seminar session involved about 9 hours travel, plus any time I spent in Toronto having supper or simply allowance for delays. Over the 10 sessions of the seminar, we became a community of people who cared for each other and took joy in each other accomplishments and supported each other in difficulty. As I started this last trip, I did feel a sense of accomplishment having attended all the sessions I committed to. However, I felt and still feel wistful that I would no longer be part of that community.
Despite the travel time, I found the seminar to be richly rewarding and worth every minute of travel time. I won’t take another seminar right away, but I will sometime in the not too distant future. I am going to attend a weekend course with Landmark in November.
