David, focused on his phone while we had coffee after lunch on Thursday. It wasn’t all phone, though. We did talk.
Meet Wiley. He was Melanie’s cat, but decided to move out of the house. He’s pretty skittish and runs off if anyone but Melanie tries to get near him. Now that Melanie has moved into Ottawa he has to depend on his hunting skills and the kindness of neighbours for food. He came by twice today for a bite. I had to take this shot from some distance within the house. As soon as I got close, he ran off.
I had a great lunch with David today and we went for a coffee afterward. We sat outside at both places. It was a beautiful sunny afternoon. These three (two women and the dog) sitting, chatting and laughing in the sunny streetside cafe seemed to me to capture the essence of the Westboro atmosphere.
The old Carleton Place Post Office is an interesting building. When I was taking this picture someone walking by told me, “It hasn’t moved as long as I’ve lived here”. A local used car dealer seems to have acquired this large equipment. It was used to move this rock and dirt around and then has sat around idle for over a month. It’s either an unusual showroom style or the owner has just been to busy to play in his sandbox.
A number of business on Bridge St. (the main drag) in Carleton Place have benches out front where locals can sit, soak up some sun and socialize.
