Ginger

Meet Ginger – Bonnie’s cat. He doesn’t like me. Right after this shot he got up and left. I was too close – about 5 ft. away.

You might notice some noise in this image. I am still getting used to my new camera and I had it set to ISO 6400 – handy to have, but not a setting you would use unless you must because of the noisy image it produces.

First Shot With a New Camera

tmptitle

This somewhat boring shot is the first one I took with my new camera. The camera is an Olympus E-P2 and it’s a complicated little beast. Once I master it, it will replace my little Canon G6 for travel.

My Best Garage Sale Customer

tmptitle

We had a community garage sale today. This young lad, who was selling his own items a few doors away, was by my place several times and bought several items each time. I think he might have spent more on my junk than he made on his own sales. I guess he’s proof of the old adage “One man’s junk is another man’s treasure”.

Zorba Dancers

tmptitle

Bonnie and I went to the Greek Festival in Ottawa today. Besides the Greek food there were Greek arts and crafts, music and dancing. These dancers, billed as the Zorba Dancers, were recruited from Greece by the show’s master of ceremonies and were accompanied by a live band with lead by a great singer guitarist. It really was an inexpensive evening of great food, drink and entertainment.

Ottawa Valley Motorcycle Club

Ottawa Valley Motorcycle Club

The image above represents more nostalgia discovered while preparing for my garage sale. The items above relate to my motorcycle riding which I did for about 15 years starting in the late 1980s. I also rode bikes while in my 20s, but these items relate mainly to my participation in the Ottawa Valley Touring Club which I joined around 1990. The club had been going for more than 10 years when I joined and is still going. The club was a great way to make friends and find riding partners.

30 Years of Briefcases

30 Years of Briefcases

This Saturday I’m participating in a community garage sale. I’ve been going through boxes, shelves, cupboards and closets, looking for stuff I don’t need. At least 2 of these briefcases should have gone long ago. Together, the three of them represent 30 years of work.

Backoff Government!

tmptitle

Should we all have the right to do whatever we want with our land? The Lanark Landowners Association thinks so. They do have these punchy signs, so we better listen.

Mushroom

tmptitle

I saw this little mushroom near the base of a stump as I mowed my lawn today. It’s actually about 4 cm high.

Moving experience

tmptitle

Melanie and Sean moved today. It was a large effort but we had lots of help. I was the truck driver and truck packer. Taylor, took a break from her cleaning and box packing chores to check out the cab of the truck. She tells me she’ll be able to drive in 5 years.
