We went to Oranienburg today to visit Sachsenhausen, a monument and museum on the site of a former concentration camp. The site was also used by the Russians to imprison Nazis and other political prisoners after the war. It was very solemn experience and although I took some pictures, there are none I want to post here.
The picture above is a shot of the bicycle parking area at the Oranienburg train station. The trains here are amazing. For a trip of about 40km, it cost us each less than 3 euros to travel and took about 1 hour including one transfer. The trains are a wonderful tribute to the German obsession with efficiency.
Sachsenhausen was all about efficiency too. Just not so wonderful.
Looks like the park and rides in Holland! And I know what you mean about trains but not just in Germany. It was like that in Holland and Belgium too. European efficiency I guess. I’m glad you and hopefully Karen too are seeing a bit about concentration camps and Jewish history. They are very sobering experiences but we need to be reminded so it never happens again!
